I have been with Hone-All for five years now and have been really impressed with the commitment to, and support of, training within the company. sßurprisingly, even during the recession, Hone-All has continued to encourage training and personal development, including offering me the opportunity to complete my NEBOSH course and also a Lead Auditor course for our recent approval to BS EN 9100:2003. In addition to the expense incurred with the move and improvement programme, this displays a genuine desire to invest in people as well as facilities and technology – something that often is forgotten by most companies.

The recent move to Cherrycourt Way has been fantastic for us. To compare this site to our previous one is like comparing chalk and cheese. We have a cleaner, safer and brighter place to work. and a long and secure future due to the improvements and investments that have been made over the last two years. In 20 years of engineering, this is the best facility I have ever worked in.

I have been given the opportunity and access to training that has enabled me to progress and, in career terms, this has more than compensated for my decision to move from a high street bank into an engineering environment. Customer service has always been central to my role within Hone-All and as the company has evolved so, too, have the administration procedures. We are focused on realistic and achievable delivery times because customers would rather have their work delivered by the agreed date than have Hone-All offer a delivery date that we have no realistic possibility of meeting. However, should we fall behind schedule for any reason we do inform the customer of the situation immediately and of our progress in resolving the issue. This, from the customer’s perspective, is far more reassuring than empty promises or, worse, ignoring the issue altogether.

The benefits from an operator point of view in the new building in Leighton Buzzard have been quite clear: the first thing you can’t fail to notice is how much lighter, brighter and cleaner it is, which makes it a far more pleasurable and stress free environment to work in. On a daily working basis the true benefits of the move are much more obvious. The extra space has allowed for better machine placement, creating more defined working areas with thought given to the flow of components between them. So, combining all this together with added room for proper storage of tooling and equipment, the improved inspection facilities and even the extra parking gained from the move, the new site has provided a real positive fresh start as far as the shop floor team is concerned.
