Hone-All Precision
boosts turning capability
The purchase of a 1250 mm between centres, 400 mm swing Colchester Combi 2000 manual/CNC lathe was intended to provide ISO 9000:2000 accredited Hone-All Precision with some capacity to spare in its busy sub-contract turning section. However, a delighted Colin Rodney, Managing Director of the Dunstable-based company, says the new arrival supplied by Colchester distributor RK International has been working flat out since its installation “and we see no sign of any let-up in demand”.
It’s been a great start to the year, something that co-Director Andrea Rodney believes can be linked directly to an on-going capital investment programme, a continuing focus on quality, and a motivated and well-trained workforce.
"We are committed to reducing set-up times, shortening lead times, and improving our competitiveness and that of our customers. Everything we do is directed to this objective, which is why, having recently installed a second deep hole borer, we decided to take the opportunity to have our larger Boehringer VDF deep hole borer refurbished. As is the case with the new lathe, it is a sensible investment that underpins our all-round machining expertise.”
In fact, one of the first jobs tackled on the new lathe – a batch of 1200 steel sleeves turned and bored on the Combi prior to heat treatment and finish honing – sums up Hone-All’s rapid progress from drilling, boring and honing specialist to its current status as a ‘one stop shop’ for precision machining.

This Colchester Combi 2000 manual/CNC lathe “is a sensible investment”, says sub-contract machinist Hone-All Precision of Dunstable
