Hone-All Precision celebrates its latest acquistion

Having freed around 1500 sq. ft. of valuable floor space by relocating its manual honing activities to an adjacent site and re-organising the machining facilities in its Dunstable headquarters, ISO 9001 accredited Hone-All Precision has now confirmed its order for a second deep hole drilling and boring machine.

Capable of producing holes from 18 mm to 60 mm diameter to a depth of 1500 mm, this second machine, manufactured by Nagel of Germany, will, says director Andrea Rodney, “ease the pressure on our Boehringer VDF deep hole boring machine at the lower end of its drilling capability and also on our gun drilling section with regard to larger diameter drilling”. The intention is to transfer short billet and small batch work from the existing deep hole borer, thereby reducing set-up times, shortening lead times and improving competitiveness.

Although honing and deep hole drilling and boring continues to be a core expertise, this latest investment is part of a much broader picture that has seen the company embrace CNC milling and turning as well as grinding and EDM drilling. “Hone-All Precision these days is more accurately defined as a single source supplier of fully machined, high quality components,” says Andrea Rodney. “This latest machine tool purchase simply reflects our determination to provide a competitive response to whatever our customers’ machining requirements may be.”
